Using the theme of a broken mirror, this piece states a group of core themes, and then blends them into other sections of the piece in ways that show an ability to integrate a varied palette of harmonies, melodies and rhythms in manner that aims to be both surprising and well-integrated. There are elements of jazz dissonance, Latin rhythm, as well as a somewhat tongue in cheek sax quartet intro as a nod to one of my lecturers. It also includes an extended drum/percussion solo section.
I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I did writing it! It’s a bop! And it has been successfully submitted to the Adelaide Wind Orchestra’s annual composing competition!
Greetings from Florida! I’m bored at work, so I decided to browse your site on my iPhone during lunch break. I love the information you provide here and can’t wait to take a look when I get home. I’m surprised at how fast your blog loaded on my cell phone .. I’m not even using WIFI, just 3G. Anyways, awesome blog!
Thank you so much for the feedback Percy! I hope you enjoy the music.
