Sax Wicca is a Principal Music Studios portfolio composition from the third semester of my B.Mus (just completed – phew!). It’s a reasonably short saxophone quartet in 6/8 time based around F Dorian in concert pitch, composed in a Hebridean time-variant folk style.
I had 2 weeks left at the end of the semester after finishing the previous piece (The Chronic Quintet) and smashed out most of this in a day. I started with a piano reduction and got it to the point where I could then split the parts into separate lines in a saxophone score. It took an extra few hours to tidy up the annotation of accents, crescendi/decrescendi, etc.
There’s not a great deal more to say other than that I hope you enjoy. I’m pretty proud of how well this came together in such a short time.
